Agility & Sports Sampler Classes
Agility Fundamentals 1: Four Weeks of Class

WHAT
Give your dog the foundation they need to excel in dog sports – and have fun with you as a teammate! We will focus on developing play and reward systems, body awareness and footwork. Your team will be well prepared to begin the basics of any dog sport of your dreams!

WHAT
Building on your skills from your Agility Fundamentals classes, we will add Contact Training and Tunnel Work. We’ll also focus on building body awareness and footwork skills, beginning handling techniques, turns and recalls to heel position. We’ll add jumping skills and weaves for dogs over 18 months old.
Prerequisite: Agility Fundamentals or instructor approval.
Sports Sampler: Four Weeks of Class

WHAT
Looking for something fun to do with your pup but are not sure which sport you both may like? Through sampling four different sports, you will get to see which sport might be a good fit for your dog and their skills. Besides, having your dog try new things can be an enriching experience, and you will learn what each sport would be like for the human, as well.
We will feature a new sport each week for 4 weeks! The sports may include: Treibball, Barn Hunt, Outdoor Scent Work, Rally-O, Agility, AKC style Nose work and more!

Scent Work Fundamentals: Six Weeks of Class

WHAT
Introduce your dog to the world of scent work. This introductory class will lay out the foundation you and your dog need to use the dog’s nose to hunt for target odor. We will focus on developing your dog’s hunting skills, build confidence and desire for the game. You will observe the dog’s body language, hone handling skills and gain knowledge to narrow what it is that you would like to have your dog hunt for. Your team will be well prepared to move forward in scent related dog sport of your dreams!
This class is the prerequisite for Truffle Training and ongoing Scent Work classes.
Scent Work Fundamentals 2: Six Weeks of Class

WHAT
Put your dog’s nose to work and continue your adventure in scent work and the sport of nose work. Your dog will continue to advance their skills in searching in the nose work elements of containers, interior, exterior and vehicles.
This next level class will hone your skills of supporting your dog in their search for the target odor, observing our dogs “telling us” where the odor is and develop reinforcement strategies to build the searching and sourcing game. Each dog is able to work at their own pace to build confidence and drive for odor hunting. You will also improve your handling to best support and encourage your dog through their search.
Your team will be well prepared to move forward in the sport of nose work in venues such as NACSW K9 Nose Work® and AKC Scent Work.
We will run one dog at a time, so please be prepared to have your dog wait in the car between runs.
Truffle Hunting: Six Weeks (Truffle Season is Nov-Feb Only)

WHAT
Continue your scent work adventure and train your dog to find truffles! The Orgeon white and black truffles are native to our region and have culinary value. We can teach our dogs to follow their odor trails and uncover ripe truffles. This class will build upon the scent work foundation you and focus their noses to finding the odor of the truffle. We will build drive to find multiple hides and duration for working in the woods. You will learn to observe the dog’s body language, and support them in the hunting process. You will get experience hunting fresh and frozen truffles. You will leave class with a clear plan for what steps need to be taken next to get you and your dog out into the field and hunting on your own.
This class is the prerequisite for Advanced Truffle Hunting.
